HAWORTH EARNS MILE-HIGH LEED SILVER

Haworth Inc., today announced that the United States Green Building Council has awarded LEED Silver certification for the achievement to the Denver showroom.

DENVER, CO – April 11, 2013 – The LEED Silver certification for the achievement of green design, construction, and operation of has been awarded to the Denver showroom. The 3,900-square-foot showroom is located in the 16th Street Mall, next to Skyline Park and in the heart of Denver’s Central Business District. Haworth partnered with GMB Architects + Engineers to design the space.

The Denver showroom is the ninth of Haworth’s 11 U.S. showrooms to be LEED certified. Haworth’s Boston showroom is expected to receive certification later this year.

A variety of project development and construction aspects attributed to the LEED Silver certification. All workstations and conference rooms have a view to the natural daylight, which illuminates more than 90 percent of the space. 

“The efficient lighting design throughout the space uses 41 percent less energy than a nominally code compliant design,” said Steven Kooy, global sustainability manager for Haworth. “Additionally, materials used in the space contain 30 percent recycled content.” 

Haworth’s Denver showroom is unique because was built directly one floor below, and is connected internally by an elevator to Pear Workplace Solutions, a Haworth dealership. The Denver showroom radiates neutral blue and orange hues and was designed to complement the Pear showroom. 

“The two spaces’ product selection complement each other well, said Andy Paterson, business develop director for Haworth. “The close proximity is an opportunity for Haworth and Pear to provide our customers with a uniquely unified and collaborative experience.” 

The USGBC’s LEED rating system provides building owners and operators with the framework to identify and implement practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions. Within each LEED credit category, projects must satisfy prerequisites to earn points. The number of points the project earns determines its level of certification.
