Under the direction of architect Oki Sato, Nendo represents a cultured and refined alternative to self-celebrative design. "Nendo" in Japanese means "clay"; the studio takes an approach to furniture and graphic design that is pliable and flexible as clay. In its challenge to create contemporary design, Nendo has been recognized internationally since its inception in 2002.
