GRAND RAPIDS, MI – September 13, 2011 – Haworth, Inc. and Interphase Interiors, the Haworth dealer in Grand Rapids, today announced plans to open a showroom in conjunction with the retail incubator space, MoDiv. Located in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan at the corner of Monroe Center and Division, the space will feature Haworth solutions for the creative workspace, as well as provide a space to stimulate discussions about innovation, creative thinking, and the evolving nature of work.
“As Interphase Interiors celebrates the 30th anniversary of being Haworth’s exclusive dealer for Grand Rapids, this project marks a new step for us,” said Randy DeBoer, President of Interphase. “It’s going beyond our prior involvement in projects that have marked the resurgence of downtown and actually brings us downtown. We look forward to being a part of this vibrant community!”
“This downtown Grand Rapids showroom will provide another collaborative space for us to meet with clients and experiment with what we know, and still need to know, about how people work today,” said Franco Bianchi, President & CEO of Haworth Inc. “Our Holland, Michigan headquarters has been a living lab for us. We are proud to support Interphase in this venture that will further expand our West Michigan experience.”
The design inspiration is based on trends of work and home life becoming blended and shows how the workplace is beginning to take on elements desired in home environments. The space is divided with kitchen, living room, library, foyer and office areas. In these spaces, Interphase and Haworth will have resources available for designers and clients to work on ideas for workspace solutions with material samples from the Haworth surface collection, as well as 3-D rendering capabilities. The space will be used to host events and informal collaborative meetings and contains touchdown stations, allowing corporate staff to work remotely in downtown Grand Rapids. The space will be open by November 2011.
Haworth solutions can be found throughout the building, including MoBevy, a business incubator space on the second floor, and in the retail incubator space. Haworth products used in the building include: Haworth Collection lounge furniture; Patterns architectural systems; Enclose moveable walls; Zody and Very ergonomic seating; Masters wood desks and credenzas; and Premise systems and storage.
The new Haworth Interphase showroom in downtown Grand Rapids adds to Haworth’s existing presence in West Michigan, including 2500 staff and headquarters in Holland, as well as manufacturing facilities in Kentwood, Douglas, Holland, Ludington and Big Rapids.
The retail incubator concept is the Shops @ Monroe Center & Division, to be better known as MoDiv. The MoDiv retail incubator is modeled after several successful incubators found in Ann Arbor, Minneapolis and Portland. These spaces offer a unique blend of experienced and start-up retailers and provide an extensive programming schedule to draw consumers to the designated area in addition to shopping.
